Hello 2007!!!!

At the wise old age of 21, i thought it might be time to finally honor a new years resolution... and this year it was to create a travel blog. i know its a bit delayed but i figured better late than never! in general life is so great and there are absolutely, positively no complaints (besides Switzerland's lack of snow at the moment). 2006 was a fabulous year of adventure and personal growth and i can only picture 2007 as being even better!!!! i look forward to my return to the states in june but for now.... THERE IS SO MUCH MORE OF EUROPE TO EXPLORE!!!
So just an update... my travels began when i departed my city by the bay, San Francisco on aug. 30 for the queen's jewel of the United Kingdom, London. i spent three and a half months living in london's most beautiful and posh neighborhood of kensington, surrounded by the beautiful hyde park, the bustling kensington high street and historic royal albert music hall. i couldn't have found a better location to live... from London i was able to travel to Ireland, Italy, Greece, and the Netherlands. While in London i enjoyed lots of British culture, pub life, football matches, celebrity meetings, theatre shows, working for an international cosmetic company and maybe even a little bit of studying. Long story short... time flies when you are having fun!!!! and my time in London quickly came to an end. London has now become my second favorite city in the world and i hope to visit again soon.
By the middle of December I was off again and this time to Switzerland. Joined by my ever-exhausting family, we paraded around our homeland for two weeks. Plenty of friends and family provided us with good visits, great meals, a bit of snow fall and lots of late nights. I was fortunate enough to have my family hop over for my 21st birthday and Christmas at the foot of the Matterhorn in Zermatt. New Years in Obwalden was great as well. Soon the family had to leave again... two weeks of quality time together created what i like to call national lampoons grass family european vacation.
Now I am currently stationed in Luzern, Switzerland until the end of January. I will arrive in Rome (via a ten hour train ride) on Jan. 30th. I will be living with a family there and taking classes, but most importantly learning italian and loading up on delicious gelato!!! Its been a great oppurtunity to be able to stay here in Switzerland for an extended period of time and I am loving every second of it. With my European Adventure just reaching its halfway point... this looks to be one of the best years ever! I look forward to the many friends i will meet and the many more places i will go. i think of home a lot but haven't suffered an ounce of homesickness! to everyone who reads this i wish you all a very happy new year! -cheers as always from Caroline!!! many updates to come...
